FAQ
Starting therapy can bring up questions - both practical and personal. The answers below are here to help you get a sense of how I work, what to expect, and whether this might be the right space for you.
If there’s something you’re still wondering about, you’re very welcome to get in touch. I'm here to help.
Where are you based?
My private practice is based in Hurst Green, Oxted, Surrey. Free parking is available. Full address details are shared when we agree to work together.
I also offer therapy online and as walk and talk sessions outdoors, whichever feels more comfortable or convenient for you.
How much do you charge?
All sessions start from £75 and last around 50 minutes.
I offer blocks of four sessions starting from £280.
I have a limited number of spaces that I can offer at a reduced fee for those eligible. Please enquire for availability.
I offer a free 20-minute introductory call, either via phone or video call, so we can decide whether working together feels like the right fit.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes I offer therapy sessions online via secure video call. Some clients prefer this for convenience, or flexibility, others find it easier to open up from the comfort of their own space.
We can talk about what might work best for you.
What type of therapy do you offer?
I work integratively, drawing on a range of approaches depending on what’s most supportive for you. These include psychodynamic, person-centred, solution-focused therapies (including CBT) and nervous system-based or somatic-informed techniques.
This allows me to tailor the work to you - your story, your needs and how you make sense of the world.
How often will we meet?
We will meet weekly at a time convenient to both of us. We'll have regular breaks, giving us the opportunity to review our work and progress as we go. We will loosely follow the academic year, with breaks every 6 - 8 weeks and work spread across 40 to 42 weeks a year.
How long will I need therapy for?
That depends on what you’d like to explore and what feels most helpful for you. I usually suggest starting with 4 to 6 sessions, after which we’ll review the work together and decide what the next steps might be.
Some clients come for a shorter period to focus on a specific issue. Others choose longer-term support to explore deeper or ongoing difficulties. There’s no fixed number. We’ll work at your pace.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other a little. I’ll ask some questions about what’s brought you to therapy, your past experiences, and what you’d like to focus on.
It’s also a space for you to ask anything you’re unsure about. There’s no pressure. It’s just the start of exploring whether this feels like a good fit.
I’m nervous about starting therapy — is that normal?
It’s completely normal to feel unsure, or anxious about starting therapy. It takes courage to reach out and talk to someone you don’t know about personal things. I offer a warm, non-judgemental and confidential space where we can explore whatever’s on your mind, at your pace. You don’t need to have all the answers or know exactly what’s wrong. We can figure it out together.
Can you provide therapy in any other languages?
I speak both English and Czech fluently. If you’d feel more comfortable having sessions in Czech, you're welcome to let me know.
What days and times do you offer sessions?
I offer sessions on weekdays during the day. I’ll do my best to accommodate a time that works for you, depending on availability.
Are you qualified?
Yes. I’m a fully qualified therapist and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work within their ethical framework.
My qualifications include:
- BSc (Hons) in Psychology
- Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB)
- Certificate in Counselling Studies
I also receive regular supervision and ongoing training to keep my practice safe, reflective and up to date.
Is what I share in therapy confidential?
Yes. Everything you share in our sessions is treated as confidential and handled in line with the BACP Ethical Framework, which guides my professional practice.
There are rare exceptions where confidentiality may need to be broken, for example, if there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or if required by law. If this ever became relevant, I would always aim to discuss it with you first, wherever possible.
Can I use my health insurance to cover sessions?
I’m not registered with insurance providers directly, but I’m happy to provide receipts if your provider accepts them. Please check with your insurer in advance to confirm their policy.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you are unable to make our session, please get in touch as soon as you can, so we can find an alternative time, or arrangement. Any missed or cancelled sessions will be charged in full. If you are unable to attend due to a serious illness or exceptional unforeseen life events, please let me know as soon as you can, so we can discuss how to proceed.
You will most likely know when you are ready to end our work together. I ask for at least two weeks' notice so that we can work towards a thoughtful and contained ending.
